Doggie is taking to her new role as mother very well. She hardly ever leaves her cage, though I leave the door unlocked, so she can nurse her pups. Strange thing, though: she seems to have the instinct to dig in the soil, having done that on those occasions when she wandered far from her house. Does she want to put the pups in the dirt? Perhaps because it's cooler?
I don't know if it's accidental or intentional on her part, but her pups are always in two different areas of her dog house. One will be in her cushioned bed, the other outside (though still in the cage.) Is she segregating the pups so that it's easier to nurse? Perhaps Doggie is smarter than I am.
