After resurrecting my Kindle Fire, I loaded it up with the Humble Bundle Android app. This made it easier for me to install all the games that I had accumulated through Humble Bundle over the years. While flipping through the catalog, I remembered that I also had plenty of e-books and comics as well.
I picked a few titles to read. One of these was the 2012 run of Archer and Armstrong. Archer is an 18-year-old assassin raised by a fundamentalist Christian parents who are part of a global conspiracy. Armstrong is a 10,000-year-old immortal bon vivant, impossibly strong and invincible but who would rather spend his time drinking and quoting poetry. Goofy as the premise is, I found it a very engrossing read. It was surprisingly fresh and well-crafted, and most importantly, free of angst and darkness. I'm happy to say Valiant has renewed my faith in comics.
