180: Thank the RNG Gods!

I've been wrestling with the Engi-B on FTL for several weeks now. It's certainly one of the most frustrating ship layouts in the game. Only one crewman to begin with and the starting weapons are crap. I usually only get as far as the Level 5 before going out in a blaze of glory. Today, though, I finally got lucky. I picked up a Flak II in Level 1 and a Flak I not long after. Somewhere in the middle of the run, I got another Flak I. On top of that, I picked up several crew along the way, too. Needless to say, the boss fight didn't last too long.

I passed by Ateneo today to get some paperwork done. I said hi to several people but didn't stay too long to chat, except for Fr. D-- and Dr. M--. I may get a couple more projects out of publications, not that I want to, but because no one else will pick it up. Well, as collegial as ever, Ateneo is.

I am still getting used to telling people: "I'm not teaching anymore." It's a little sad to say it, but there you go. Strangely enough, it's been former students that I've been bumping into and so it's to them I have to drop this little detail.

It's a real shame because I do like teaching. But these past weeks of having finally stepped back have shown me that the work environment was really becoming intolerable. I'll probably write all this down when I'm more composed, but in the meantime, I'm happier at my new place of work.
