005: Sidekicks

img_20160105_205611-01.jpegI am embarrassed to say that I finished Sidekicks faster than I intended to. It's no big feat. After all, it was really meant to be light reading. But I did enjoy it and I wanted to see how it ended.

Yesterday I said the book was self-aware to the point of satire. I take it back. The self-awareness is actually deconstruction, though it doesn't go to the extreme that Alan Moore does. The influences are there, though. I'll never read Batman the same way again.

The story bogs down a bit at the end, but it's still a fun ride.

Here's the thing with running a daily blog: I'm boring and there's not much to write about. Well, there would be, but I can't talk about them for professional reasons. At the same time, I'm practicing more self-censorship than I did before.

But the price for not writing daily is not writing at all. I'm afraid I will just have to be boring then.

I'm all caught up with BBC In Our Time for now, so I turned my attention to the Talking Machines podcast. The last episode for 2015 covered Tensorflow and Autograd for Torch. I'm only taking note of it now because a lot of it is way beyond me.
