Ateneo Blue Knights Come to Life!

Who needs weird Japanese anime / video game cosplay when you you've got some super-cool school symbols to choose from?

I was pleasantly surprised to see these two Blue Knights in battle armor taking part in the Ateneo de Davao contingent for the Kadayawan Floral Parade. The armor was pretty well-made -- molded plastic, I believe -- and the paint job wasn't bad either. To round out the costumes, they both had the Ateneo seal for shields as well as the sword and banner.

Gotta tip my hat to this pair. It was a sweltering 30 C, and they must have been sweating buckets in the armor. But they managed to finish the 3-kilometer walk from Roxas Boulevard to San Pedro Street. Now that's dedication!

Go, Blue Knights!

  1. Hi Dom!

Thanks for the kind words. The armor, sword and shields are made of rubber. Only the female knight's banner staff is made of PVC plastic. And yes, those costumes are very, very hot. Our models were absolute troupers to have finished that parade. Their costumes were made by internationally-awarded cosplay makers. You can reach them through their Facebook page. Just search for "Pots Taks."

We plan to do a photo shoot of the knights in the AdDU campus next week. I still have to work on the peg. Let me or Pam know if you want to join.

    All the best,

    Igy Castrillo

    1. Igy: thanks very much for the info! Yes, I would like to join the photo shoot. Let me know when it's happening
