September updates

In case you're wondering, yes, I'm still very much here. Thank you for asking. It shows you're concerned about me. I'm sorry I've been sparse on the updates lately.

These days, if you don't see me blog as much, you should take that as a good sign. I've really been quite busy lately.  But yes, I understand that's no excuse not to write.  For the sake of my sanity, I really need to churn out a few words every day.

It's just that, well, I'm all "worded" out.  Last week, I finished writing the main body of my first academic research paper, "Experiences in Teaching Operating Systems Using a Combined Theoretical and Practical Approach."  Before edits and such, it has hit well over 6,000 words.  I put it away for a while, lest I explode, but I'll have to pick it up again later this week to add the bibliography and clean up what I can.

Also last week, I finally put together my short story collection.  Not as much writing involved here as all the stories had been previously published.  Properly laid out on 6"x9" book size, it hit some 230 pages.  That figure surprised me, too.  I didn't think I'd hit that number.  Then again, these are stories dating back to 2006 (including my first published story, Facester and my latest, Leg Men.)  Sadly, though, there won't be enough funds to print it in its entirety so I might have to cut it down to 120 pages.  I hope I get the book out before February next year.

And, of course, teaching teaching teaching.  But more on that later.
