Last Stand

Last night, Emily and I found our way to Margie's, the pastry shop in Damosa. Though we had had yogurt for dessert elsewhere, their Cookie Monster looked quite enticing. Chocolate cake, six inches thick, a layer of chocolate frosting on top: should we? shouldn't we? We did.

Emily and I savored the Cookie Monster in measured forkfuls. It proved to be as tasty as it looked. The cake was moist yet firm, the taste very chocolatey. A thin layer of yellow-white cream that split the cake into layers added extra sweetness. Mmmmm.

"What is this layer that looks and tastes like custard?" I asked my foodie fiancée. "It's quite delicious."

"Uh...custard."

"Oh."

Duh.
